Celebrate National Sandwich Day!
This year, National Sandwich Day will not only be mouth-watering and delicious but, it will also be full of giving.
One thing is for sure, we are getting ready for National Sandwich Day because, well, who doesn’t love delicious meat, veggies and cheese? Especially when it is dressed in yummy sauce and layered between two perfectly toasted pieces of bread.
We eat at SUBWAY® Canada fairly often throughout the week. The girls like it because there are so many options and they can have something different every time we go. Even more now that they have a new sub, they adored the Carved Turkey and I must say, so did I!

This year, for every delicious SUBWAY® sandwich purchased with a drink on Thursday, November 3rd, SUBWAY® Canada will donate a meal to Food Banks Canada. In fact, they will be donating more than 303,000 meals across the country through Food Banks Canada’s national food sharing program, which is approximately the number of children across the country who rely on food banks every month.
But, the giving doesn’t stop there, in addition to donating a meal, participating locations will gift the purchaser (that’s you) with a second sandwich of equal or lesser value.
Did you know that with more than 550 food banks and 3,000 affiliated programs, Food Banks Canada has helped more than 1.7 million Canadians in communities across the country this year alone? Just $1 can help to provide 3 meals acquired by Food Banks Canada.
Food bank usage has increased 26 per cent since 2008 with 80,000 people visiting food banks for the first time each month. Food Banks Canada is committed to increasing its users’ access to fresh foods and currently and 40% of all foods distributed through the food bank are perishable items.
Pam Jolliffe, Executive Director, Food Banks Canada says, that it is an incredibly busy period for food banks so the donation from SUBWAY® restaurants couldn’t have come at a better time.
